The painting exhibition "Semper imago" by Danilo Vuksanović will open on July 1, 2025, at the Tivat Museum and Gallery, starting at 9:00 PM.
Dr. Danilo Vuksanović is a visual artist, senior conservator, museum theorist, and art critic. He is the author of numerous series of drawings, paintings, collages, objects, and installations in which he has interpreted cultural heritage through contemporary artistic means, raised questions regarding civilizational symbols such as the book and the written word, dedicated series to illustrious predecessors, and opened up space for new art-historical interpretations. Vuksanović is keenly aware of the contemporary artist's role—one that demands listening to society and responding to it. With each new series of paintings, the artist reaffirms his gestural visual expression and textured, relief-like surfaces, while never veering into pure abstraction. The realm of Vuksanović’s art criticism, essays, and scholarly texts on art history and museology lies in the space between the artworks themselves—paintings and drawings—and his reflections on their significance. By writing about art and other creators, he effectively complements and expands upon his own ideas.
As an employee of the Matica Srpska Gallery—where he works on the conservation of artworks, the presentation of various exhibitions, and the coordination of museum operations at multiple levels—Vuksanović is known as a dedicated advocate for (authentic) art.
The exhibition will be staged across two levels of the institution's gallery space, while Danijela Đukić, Director of the Tivat Museum and Gallery, and the exhibition's creator, Danilo Vuksanović, will speak at the opening ceremony.
