The 85th anniversary of the heroic feat of Spasić and Mašera was marked in Tivat. An exhibition in their honor at the Museum and Gallery is open until May 17.
A commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the sacrifice of national heroes Milan Spasić and Sergej Mašera, held under the slogan "Honor Has No Price!", took place today in Tivat, organized by the Municipality and the Tivat Museum and Gallery.
The mayor of Tivat Municipality Željko Komnenović and the president of the Municipal Council of Tivat Miljan Marković laid a wreath at the memorial to Spasić and Masera in the Great City Park.
Tribute was paid to the victims by representatives of the Navy of Montenegro, OBNOR Tivat, and the Boka Navy (Tivat branch), as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Montenegro, Bernarda Gradišnik, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro, Nebojša Rodić.
Mato Brguljan, President of OBNOR Tivat, addressed the attendees, recalling the heroic act of two young officers on the destroyer *Zagreb* who decided to scuttle the ship, remaining true to their oath, honor, and homeland.
"In a time of widespread despair and state collapse, they demonstrated that an individual can transcend historical circumstances through their actions and become a symbol of resistance and hope," it was highlighted during the speech.
Members of the history club of the "Drago Milović" Elementary School and the Tivat Music and Educational Society participated in the commemorative program.
Following the commemoration in the city park, delegations sailed to Val Zagreb, where a joint wreath was laid in the sea at the site where the destroyer sank, in lasting memory of their heroic act.
The central part of the program was the exhibition "Honor Has No Price – 85 Years Since the Heroic Deaths of Milan Spasić and Sergej Mašera" at the Tivat Museum and Gallery, which was opened by the Mayor of Tivat, Željko Komnenović.
