An exhibition of Maja Perfiljeva’s silk watercolors, titled "Divne plave moje vale" (My Lovely Blue Bays), opened last night at the Tivat Museum and Gallery. The opening was graced by theater director and musician Dušanka Belada, who performed a song featuring lyrics written by Maja Perfiljeva.

The Bokeljska Noć (Boka Night) reflects the life, character, and traditions of Boka culture and the Mediterranean spirit, and is a protected intangible cultural asset.

"The song 'Bokeljska noć"' performed by Vice Vukov, won the Split Festival in 1966; it forever transformed the event of the same name—adding a special touch to it—as well as numerous cultural happenings across the Bay of Kotor region," noted Danijela Đukić, the director of the institution.

"When there is no me, when the ferns, grasses and sedges hide me, when there is no me - I will kiss you with my songs even then"

…is just one of the iconic choruses by the Sarajevo band Indexi (from the song "Balada"); written in the masculine gender for Davorin Popović—the band's vocalist and frontman—it bears the signature of Maja Perifelja. Here in Boka, we primarily associate her with the lyrics of the famous "Bokeljska noć" ("Boka Night")—a song we have embraced as "our own" and largely come to regard as a folk classic of universal value.

And this is, in fact, the story of Maja, whom the context of her life placed among those authentic creators with whom things truly begin—creators upon whose works subsequent art and new forms of creative expression build.

And while with her poetic oeuvre, everything is actually clear and in most cases almost genre (pop-rock) and personal addresses are subordinated to the way and form of presentation, with her visual expression, which she was also prone to, attention should be focused on the step that (most often) followed the painting,... towards fashion design and clothing of the lifestyle she preferred.

Like the verse, it is not intended for a possible economic exchange, but an exceptional and dedicated experience and a possible gift, to all the rooms she believed to be aware of the contours and secrets of the life we share..." said Neven Staničić at the opening.
